Growing up, I remember the challenges of navigating myself in school, finding my niche of friends and community in school proved to be difficult at times.Watching myself steer through my adolescent years sometimes thinking “Do I have the confidence to accomplish this” or “Can I participate in this activity?” was startling, until one day I joined Girls on the Run (GOTR) in 3rd grade. My experience with Girls on the Run has truly made me shine, as I was surrounded by a community of girls that helped build, grow, and foster my self-confidence. GOTR has taught me vital life skills like how to manage time management, make healthy decisions, get through peer pressure, and how to love myself. The Celebratory 5K at the end of the program is the cherry on top of it all.

There are several reasons why your girl should join GOTR Sierras! The program is based on girl empowerment. Your daughter will learn and develop critical life skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and responsible decision-making. Each lesson has a team bonding activity, where she will develop friendships, strengthen teamwork, and further her growth as an individual.

I am thrilled to be a marketing and program intern with GOTR Sierras since participating in GOTR has been so fulfilling for me. Working for a nonprofit organization with values of kindness, confidence, courage, and drive like mine makes me eager to work. GOTR Sierras empowers girls to embrace their confidence, inner strength, and limitless potential.  Sign your girl up here
