Meet our 2026 Spring Season Interns!

Meet Rian-

Rian Henson is a senior at the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in Public Health. Originally from Reno, Rian is passionate about mental health and supporting youth in the community. After graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in Public Health and hopes to work for the Washoe County Health District. Rian is especially excited to gain hands-on experience that creates meaningful, positive impact. 

 

Outside of school, Rian enjoys hiking, traveling, listening to music, and staying active. Through this internship with Girls on the Run Sierras, Rian looks forward to learning, growing, and contributing to the organization’s mission in a meaningful way.

 

Time to get to know Jenny-

Jenny Perez is a student at the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in Public Health and Nursing. She will graduate with a Public Health degree in Spring 2026 and plan to complete her nursing degree in December 2027. Passionate about health and well-being, Jenny is excited to continue learning and gaining hands-on experience in the Health & Wellness field!

 

Outside of school, Jenny enjoys hiking, going on walks, and reading a good book. A fun fact: she has a dachshund named Mr. Weenie, who can most often be found cuddling the day away!

 

Now, introducing Chloe-

Chloe Mullen is a senior at the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in Public Health. Born and raised in Reno, she plans to attend Physical Therapy school after graduation and pursue a career as a Physical Therapist. Chloe is excited to continue learning and gaining experience that supports health, movement, and overall well-being! 

 

Outside of school, Chloe enjoys coaching volleyball, snow skiing, paddle boarding in the summer, baking, and reading.

 

Meet Leila-

Leila Engelke is Girls on the Run Sierras’ first high school student intern and currently attends Spanish Springs High School, where she stays active through athletics. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Nevada, Reno and pursue a pre-law track. 

 

In her free time, Leila enjoys cooking, reading, and exploring the outdoors. New to Girls on the Run, she is excited to learn more about the program and get involved with its supportive community.

 

Get to know Annette-

Annette Palomares is in her senior year at the University of Nevada, Reno, double majoring in Political Science and International Relations as well as getting her minor in Spanish. Having grown up in Reno, Annette has always wanted to be involved and help out her community. She hopes to attend law school after graduating from UNR. Eager to learn, Annette is looking forward to engaging in community-focused public service to gain hands-on experience and support community development! 

 

Outside of school, Annette enjoys cooking, drawing, reading and playing video games. She also has a grey tabby cat named Oliver who she spends a lot of her free time with!  

 

Our 2026 intern team looks forward to working with Girls on the Run Sierras this spring! If you see these spectacular ladies this spring, wave a hello!
