Welcome to Girls on the Run - Sierras - a life-changing, non-profit prevention program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.

Girls on the Run - Sierras

Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running race with healthy living education. Our programs instill self-esteem and strong values through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training - all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community.

Girls on the Run - Sierras is an Independent Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 160 locations across the United States and Canada.

Fall 2009 GOTR Program

We will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, starting September 9th, 2009 in the following locations:

• Truckee Elementary 3:15 - 4:45 pm (Donner Trail students attend at Truckee Elementary)
• Glenshire Elementary 3:15 - 4:45 pm
• Tahoe Lake Elementary 3:15 - 4:45 pm
• Kings Beach Elementary (Boys and Girls Club) 3:30 - 5:00 pm
• Alder Creek Middle School 2:15 - 3:45 pm
• North Lake Tahoe Middle School 2:30 - 4:00 pm

Program fee is $150 and includes:

• 10 weeks of curriculum based lessons
• Trained GOTR coaches
• Lesson materials
• Water bottles
• 5K registration (5K to be held on Oct 25th)
• Healthy snacks at every lesson
• Girls on the Run T-Shirt

Full and partial scholarships are available and are based on a sliding scale according to TTUSDs Free and Reduced Lunch guidelines.
